In wake of the global pandemic, companies are struggling to keep employees employed while only a select few are able to conduct business. Tens of Thousands are unemployed and wondering when they will be able to go back to their every day lives. Unfortunately, this will forever change the scope of how we conduct business from here on out.

Eventually, there will be a flattening of the curve according to top scientist, and should peak around the middle of April, 2020. But what does that mean for those that have recently lost their jobs? Companies across the globe are taking drastic measure to decrease the number of personnel just to stay a float. The truth is that many companies will not look to hire or replace personnel they lost during these times, but more likely proceed without ever filling these positions. Large corporations will seek to outsource key personnel like, HR, Recruiters, Accounts Payable & Receivable. Promote work from home opportunities to reduce the influx of in office personnel. Downsizing will be come the new normal for many organizations as they focus on what the future may look like 5 to 10 years down the road.

So What can those who have lost their jobs or seeking employment do to mitigate how this may affect the entire global economy? My suggestion is to start thinking outside the box!

  • Start a business (Brick & Mortar, E-Commerce, Consulting, etc.)
  • Go back to school and achieve your bachelors, masters, doctorate (Make yourself valuable)
  • Find what really drives you and what you are really passionate about
  • Pick up a trade (HVAC, Electrical, Carpentry, Welding, Plumbing, etc.)
  • Find a need, and fill it.

There will always be opportunities, but we have to take a leap of faith to achieve them. Sometimes it takes doing things that we are not comfortable with. It may take money or resources that we might not have, but if there is a will, there is a way. Find your will to succeed, if you fall, get back up and do it again.

Who knows, you might just be the next great entrepreneur!
